Coliseum Maintenance
The Athletic Maintenance Operations Staff provides custodial and support services, event setup and event staffing at Coleman Coliseum, the Sam Bailey Track Stadium, and other UA facilities, as requested. The Electrical Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance of all campus electrical equipment and systems, including:
- Building interior lighting and exterior lighting
- Electrical receptacles / outlets
- Emergency generator equipment
- Kitchen appliances
- Line locates of UA owned underground electrical cables
- UA owned traffic signals
- Medium voltage electrical system equipment – transformers, switches, overhead power lines
Elevator Maintenance
We provide full service preventative and predictive maintenance for the electrical and mechanical operations of all vertical transportation units including: elevators, wheelchair lifts, escalators, and all types of vertical lifts on campus.
- Safety and Functionality—ensure university-owned vertical transportation is safe and functional.
- Preventative maintenance—perform routine scheduled maintenance and adjustments.
- Annual Testing—thoroughly check all components for proper function and record test results.
- Annual Inspections—arrange for each unit to be inspected by an official state inspector.
- Repairs—fix or replace worn out or malfunctioning components.
- Upgrades—install new components such as controllers, door equipment, and fixtures (i.e., car and hall operating panels, position indicators, etc.).
- Entrapment Rescue—promptly arrive to safely assist passengers off a stalled elevator.
- Responsiveness—provide 24/7 operations.
- Event Support—provide technicians for standby at events such as football games and graduations.
- Training and Certification—administer our UA Elevator Apprenticeship Program through the National Association of Elevator Contractors where our apprentices earn their certification as an elevator technician and then continue earning required annual continuing education units.
Building Maintenance
The Building Maintenance Department is made up of 3 shops covering several trades each. The shops are Building Maintenance, Pest Control, and the Building Maintenance Renovation Team. These three shops combines provide maintenance and renovation work for all of campus. If you are unsure of what services you need, a work order can be turned in as a estimate request and one of the office staff or lead trades employee will meet with you to determine what is needed to accomplish the campus request. Trades that are provided under the Department are as follows:
- Pest Control – inside and outside services
- Wildlife Management – removal of unwanted pests, preventative maintenance to help keep wildlife out of buildings.
- Building Technician Carpenters – including, but not limited to, ceiling tiles, furniture installation, hanging objects on walls, door and door hardware, glass, General Maintenance needs, preventative maintenance, etc.
- Painters – Sheetrock repair and painting, graphics, caulking, etc.
- Spray Shop Technicians – Cabinet Grade Stain and Paint
- Carpet and Tile Layers – installing carpet and rubber baseboards, leveling floors, ceramic tile, etc
- Roofers – Preventative Maintenance and Project work to do what can be done to prevent leaks and stop leaks identified.
- Concrete Crew – Sidewalk repair, trip hazards, building monument signs, etc
- Brick Masons – Paver installation, restoration of building envelope, eliminating trip hazards, etc
- Pressure Washing Crew – Cleaning Building entrances and sidewalks, parking decks, etc.
- Cabinet Shop Buildings – creating custom millwork for maintenance and construction work
- Renovation Team – dedicated carpenters, electricians, plumbers, HVAC to complete larger scale project work at the request of campus customers.
HVAC Maintenance
The Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all equipment and systems required to heat and cool the campus buildings, along with performing maintenance of refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, and other refrigeration equipment. The HVAC Department also operates and maintains the Central Thermal Water Energy Plants.

The Plumbing Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance of all campus plumbing equipment and systems, including:
- Bathroom / restroom sinks, toilets, showers, etc.
- Drinking fountains and bottle fill stations
- Domestic water piping, pumps, and water heating systems
- Sanitary sewer drains and piping systems
- Storm sewer drains and piping systems
- Decorative water fountains
- Building fire protection sprinkler systems
- Line locates of UA owned underground piping systems
- Pipefitting and metal fabrication work
- Install gas meters and repair gas lines
- Maintain and repair vacuum pumps, DI water systems, and air compressors
