The University of Alabama is proud to participate in the World Wildlife Fund’s annual Earth Hour event to show solidarity with conservation efforts across the globe. On Saturday, March 30th, 2019 at 8:30 p.m., the University will turn off all non-essential lighting on-campus. University landmarks such as Denny Chimes will go dark for the hour. We invite students, faculty and staff to participate as well.
Students can observe the hour by looking for energy-saving opportunities such as a light left on in an unused common room. Faculty and Staff should make sure all lights, including desk lamps and computer monitors, get switched off before leaving for the weekend.
